I was one of the lucky bloggers invited to the Getting Gorgeous with CVS Beauty Event, which took place this past Saturday, April 27, 2013. Normally, I would post beauty event recaps on Makeup by Kim Porter, but, after attending the Getting Gorgeous with CVS Beauty 2013, I realized it was more mommy blogger-oriented; therefore, my recap of the event lands here.
The Getting Gorgeous with CVS Beauty Event took place in New York City's Metropolitan Pavillion. I'm quite familiar with this venue since it's the home of the annual The Makeup Show New York, which is this upcoming May 5-6, 2013. Back to the event...
The Getting Gorgeous with CVS Beauty Event featured hair styling stations where attendees could get their hair chalked, have their hair flat ironed, curled or waved. There was also a manicure station, as well as a BB Cream station that showcased the many BB Creams sold at CVS. Attendees were able to get matched to a BB Cream shade by professional makeup artist, Mickey Williams. At this station, I ran into Nellie of Brooklyn Active Mama. It was nice to finally meet her.
Although CVS at least many different brands of BB Creams, there was only one that was a fit, the Garnier Skin Renew Skin Perfector BB Cream, in shade Deep. Since I already own that, I was offered Olay's new CC cream in the darkest shade, which is still too light; however, I can use it as a primer.
|Dial had a cool photo printing machine. When you posted on instagram & used their hashtag #DialKids the photo printed.|
Usually during events like these, companies showcase new products, and the Getting Gorgeous with CVS Beauty event was no different. Dial showed their new double-duty body soaps for kids. Dial has body wash for kids ages 2+ and age 6+. Peachy Clean is my favorite scent out of the three children's soaps; it's light and fresh, and not overpowering. I received a complimentary bottle of it.
Thyme Maternity was also in attendance. They're a Canadian brand that has recently began selling in the US at Babies R Us. They had some fashionable maternity items. I thought I took a picture of a top that I'd like, but, it is missing. Thyme Maternity also sells body care, and intimate apparel. I will definitely check them out for my next pregnancy, whenever that happens.
New Balance was another favorite. They had some cute, lightweight sneakers, and extremely comfortable ballet flats for walking that are only $55! I'm hoping to snag a pair since I am working out again. Plus, my podiatrist recommends New Balance. Oh, and, Heidi Klum has a line with them, too!

I was surprised to see Foster Grant at the event. My first thought was wow, this is such an old brand; they've been around since 1929! All of their shades are about $15 or under, and are on-trend. I found these cute, chain detailed aviator shades. I love aviators by the way. I think I own three pairs!
I also loved the jewelry at the Jade and Jasper booth. They have some cute items you may want to pick up something for mom for Mother's Day.
There was no food, but, there were drinks sponsored by Bacardi. Bacardi was serving up their low calorie pre-mixed Pina Colodas, Mojitos, and Strawberry Daiquiri's. I love how Bacardi has New York City themes for their drinks.
Overall, I had a great time at the event. Thank you to Audrey of Mom Generations and Vera of Lady and the Blog for putting together a great, fun event with wonderful sponsors.
